Who Are We?
Clay Tree Society is a non-profit, registered society that was incorporated in 1957 under the Societies Act of British Columbia.
With the support of School District #68, Clay Tree began fifty years ago as one room with one instructor supporting six individuals. Today Clay Tree provides support to seventy individuals at two locations.
Today we are an accredited agency with seven programs at two locations providing support to seventy-two individuals ranging from ages eighteen to seventy. Our programs focus on community inclusion and recreation, life skills, volunteer opportunities, artistic exploration, personal empowerment and independence. The individuals we support are challenged to be all that they can be, and accepted for who they are.
Clay Tree Society is contracted through Community Living British Columbia and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Our Mission Statement
“Each person is unique and has the right to a life of quality and dignity. Every effort will be made to maximize autonomy, potential and to facilitate self-determination. Programs will reflect the strengths and needs of people with developmental disabilities and will support them in the pursuit of their goals.”
Our Vision
“We envision a community where participants are included based on their choices, and where they continue to develop their skills.
We see an organization that supports participants, families, and caregivers. We see ourselves as a safe, friendly, and happy place where participants have friends, and families/caregivers have social networks.
We see programs that provide support that is focused on each individual, where participants have the support they need to be as successful and independent as possible.”
Referrals for our services must be made through Community Living British Columbia.
