Life Skills

Having life skills is an essential part of being able to meet the challenges of everyday life.

A new approach to skill development.

Having life skills is an essential part of being able to meet the challenges of everyday life.  Not only does it allow for group collaboration and the ability to self-manage when problem solving, it provides an opportunity to work as a team which enhances the benefits of employability.

The Clay Tree Life Skills Interest Group offers a new approach to skill development.   Participants attending the course receive the necessary training that can lead to volunteer positions or paid employment.  Topics of instruction include food production and preservation with an emphasis on healthy eating and preparing daily meals.  We demonstrate how readily available devices or gadgets can be utilized to allow for success in the kitchen.  Other areas of focus incorporate housekeeping, laundry, shopping skills, money management, rent, utilities and manners.

Sewing

Clay Tree now offers a Sewing and Alteration Interest Group.  The basic knowledge gained in this all day class prepares participants with needed skills to do basic clothing repairs such as fixing a hem, sewing on a button, ironing and repairing a tear.  We also crate useful items for home and gift giving.

Our goal in Life Skills and Sewing is to develop programming that creates success at every level while having fun as well.
